We believe that many of you would like to invite your parents or other family members to come to New Zealand or you are looking for your own visa to experience the beauty of New Zealand. As you may already know, the borders are fully opening on 31 July 2022 and you will be able to apply for a visitor visa from 1^st August.

You can visit New Zealand as a genuine tourist up to 9 months in an 18-month period.

Therefore, it is crucial to know what is important in order to achieve positive outcome of your application.

The main criteria for a general visitor visa are to prove that you have genuine intention to meet the conditions of your visa, that you are a bona fide applicant (bona fide - made, done, presented, etc., in good faith; without deception or fraud)

• you can prove it through your travel history or evidence that you have lived in another country that is not your country of citizenship
• evidence that you are visiting family or friends by providing their names, contact details and their immigration status
• evidence of your work and living arrangements in your home country
  • by providing a letter from your employer approving your leave and confirming your return to work
  • proof of any assets you have – such as house, car, etc.,
  • letter explaining your family ties in your home country – e.g., your elderly parents need your care, etc.

The other important requirement is to meet the funding criteria – you must have enough money to live on while you are in NZ or you can have an acceptable sponsor (if the sponsor is a natural person, he/she needs to be resident/citizen of NZ).

You need to have at least $1000 per month or $400 if you have already paid for your accommodation.

If you are applying for a visa for less than 6 months you are not required to provide Medicals nor Police Certificate. But you still need to be of good character and be in good health.
